Välinge Innovation announced today that it has recently entered into confidential settlement agreements for an undisclosed amount of monetary compensation with Canadian flooring manufacturers and distributors Triforest Inc., Triforest Manufacturer Inc. and the Canadian retail entity Vancouver Mouldings & Floors Inc.
These settlements effectively conclude the legal proceedings initiated by Välinge Innovation in the Canadian Federal Court on May 15, 2024, in which it was alleged the Triforest companies and Vancouver Mouldings & Floors infringed several claims of two Canadian patents within Välinge’s extensive patent portfolio. The complaint also included the assertion that the patented 5G inserts, which are key components in the functionality of their well-known 5G locking system, had been sourced from an unauthorised manufacturer. By settling the case, all parties have avoided further litigation.
