Välinge Innovation, a global leader in flooring and furniture technology, will present its latest advancements in powder-based surface technologies at two major industry events this November – the 15th Flooring Colloquium (Fußbodenkolloquium) organised by IHD in Dresden, Germany (13–14 November) and the 2025 Surfaces Eurasia Conference in Istanbul, Turkey (25–26 November).
Since launching its first generation of wood powder technologies – Nadura® and Woodura® – in 2008, Välinge has been redefining how surfaces are made. By using recycled wood dust and advanced resin technologies, these innovations bring outstanding strength, wear resistance and environmental benefits to surfaces used in flooring and furniture products.
In collaboration with Covestro, Välinge has developed a new powder-based surface solution built on a resin that is completely free from melamine and formaldehyde. This breakthrough makes powder-based flooring both stronger and safer, addressing long-standing health and sustainability challenges while further improving performance and durability.
Paving the way for more sustainable surface solutions
The new technology platform supports optimised versions of Välinge’s proven Woodura and Nadura technologies and opens the door to new product types with hybrid surfaces such as Wood Powder Laminate (WPL). WPL is created by combining decorative paper with powder technology, enabling the use of dry decorative papers and a powder-based overlay.
At both events, Göran Ziegler, Välinge Innovation’s Director of R&D Surface Technology, will explain how powder impregnation enhances performance and improves the properties of both the surface and the core. He will also highlight how the new solution provides greater control of curing, making products easier to balance, ensuring consistent, high-quality results and enabling production of larger formats.
“These latest developments within wood powder technology enable the creation of laminate, wood and MMF products that meet high performance demands and support larger formats and extensive installation areas – all while being entirely free from melamine and formaldehyde,” says Göran Ziegler.
As a leading innovation company, Välinge continues to drive sustainable progress in surface technology, empowering the industry to combine outstanding performance with environmental responsibility.
“With this new technology platform, we aim to help the industry deliver exceptional performance and durability while safeguarding our planet and future generations,” Ziegler adds.
Ziegler will present these innovations at the 15th Flooring Colloquium (Fußbodenkolloquium) organised by IHD in Dresden, Germany (13–14 November) and at the 2025 Surfaces Eurasia Conference in Istanbul, Turkey (25–26 November).
