Välinge Settles Potential Canadian IP Infringement Lawsuit with Simba Flooring Regarding SPC “Eco-Friendly”-Branded Products without L2C Labels

Viken, Sweden

Välinge has reached a settlement with Canadian flooring distributor Simba Flooring Corp. (“Simba”), after becoming aware it was distributing and selling unlicensed and infringing SPC products on the Canadian market. The products in question, sold by some Canadian retailers under the brand name “Eco-Friendly”, were using Välinge’s proprietary locking systems, and the packaging was marked with several of Välinge’s registered trademarks, without bearing the required holographic L2C labels.

Apart from paying an undisclosed amount of monetary compensation to Välinge, Simba has committed to cease all imports and sales of infringing products. The parties have avoided court litigation by successfully settling this matter.

“We are constantly monitoring the market to ensure that Välinge’s IP rights are respected and we do not hesitate to take legal action when necessary.“ says  Per Nygren, Executive Vice President.  “This settlement shows that all actors doing business in unlabeled products have a responsibility to ensure that such products are legitimate and validly licensed.”
